Tickets for the EuroNight service are expected to be available starting 4 November. A new night train is proposed to link Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden directly, pending approval from the Swiss Parliament.
If approved, the train will start running three times a week from mid-April 2026. Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) revealed that the train will travel from Basel to Copenhagen and Malmö.
The EuroNight service will depart Basel at 5:35 pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving in Malmö at 9:35 am after a 16-hour trip. The return journey will leave Malmö at 6:57 pm on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, reaching Basel at 11:30 am after 16 hours and 30 minutes.
The total distance covered will be approximately 1,400 kilometers.
A spokesperson for SBB said the new train is “making climate-friendly travel to Northern Europe even more accessible” and "meets the growing demand for sustainable, cross-border mobility."
This new direct night train aims to expand Europe’s sustainable travel options by enhancing convenience and reducing environmental impact across the Northern European corridor.
This planned night train between Switzerland and Sweden offers an eco-friendly, efficient travel alternative, connecting major cities across three countries with regular service starting in April 2026.
