Bradley Beal admitted he wasn’t sure how his story in Phoenix would be told, but he recognized that there was one worth revisiting after his return to the city on Thursday. The former Suns guard, now with the Los Angeles Clippers, spoke to local media for the first time since agreeing to a buyout in mid-July.
Beal reflected on what went wrong during his two seasons in Phoenix, a period marked by high expectations and eventual disappointment alongside teammates Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Despite media curiosity, Beal avoided discussing backstage details or internal struggles.
“Everybody did their ‘what ifs,’ but you can’t live in the past,” Beal said. “We could have had something special, but it didn’t happen. Didn’t work, and we all moved on.”
He emphasized that while the missed opportunity will always linger in fans’ minds, he feels content with how things turned out. Beal expressed optimism about his future with the Clippers and wished success to his former teammates in their respective situations.
“At the end of the day, everybody has a story. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m excited with where I am,” Beal added.
Bradley Beal reflected calmly on his unsuccessful stint with the Suns, choosing closure and optimism as he moves forward with the Clippers.
