Manchester United prospect James Overy has been called up to Australia's squad for upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Venezuela. Coach Tony Popovic also welcomed back midfielders Jackson Irvine and Riley McGree from injury.
Overy, a 17-year-old full back from Perth, joined Manchester United's academy last year. Although he has not yet played senior football for the Premier League club, he was part of Australia's squad for the recent under-20 World Cup.
Overy is one of seven uncapped players included in the 26-man roster announced on Friday as Popovic aims to strengthen squad depth ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Jackson Irvine, based in Germany, returns to the squad after an eight-month absence caused by foot surgery and a quadriceps injury. The team will play Venezuela on November 14 in Houston and World Cup-qualified Colombia on November 18 in New York.
