As Remembrance Day approaches, communities across Canada prepare to honour the soldiers who fought and continue to serve to keep the country safe, from the First World War and Second World War to the present day.

The museum’s poppy drive started in October, with 75 poppy wreaths placed around the heritage district.
Al Howse, president of the legion, noted that members have been actively preparing for the commemorations.
“Everything,” he said with a laugh.
The legion’s poppy drive began on October 11, with members collecting donations and distributing poppies on the streets.
“We accept donations at that time for our poppy trust fund to support veterans and their families,”
Howse added that poppies are available in 200 businesses, and thousands have already been handed out.
Niagara-on-the-Lake will host numerous commemorative events leading up to and on November 11 to honour veterans and their sacrifices.
