A former nursing assistant, Diamond Johnson, has been indicted for negligent homicide after a patient fell out of a hydraulic lift and died.
According to the Louisiana Attorney General, the incident occurred in June 2024 at Jefferson Manor, a nursing home in Baton Rouge, where Johnson was working.
The patient slipped out of the side of the lift and landed on the feet of it, became unresponsive about 40 minutes after the fall and could not be resuscitated.
An autopsy revealed that the patient died from complications from blunt force injuries due to the fall.
The indictment was made by a grand jury following an investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
