Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will offer free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Tuesday, November 11, Remembrance Day.
Eligible Participants
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
These individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to access free transit.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- An accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
- Holiday fares will apply to other passengers on November 11.
Additional Recognitions and Activities
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans for their sacrifices and contribution to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
