A heartfelt display of remembrance and community spirit will be showcased at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday. The project was led by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant of Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
Maureen, with the help of her daughter and granddaughter, created a striking poppy-themed art installation. This beautiful tribute will be exhibited at the church entrance, where Maureen will also join the Mayor of Tamworth during the commemorations.
The artwork was made in the Annandale communal lounge, with support from Maureen's family and the Scheme Manager from Tamworth Borough Council. The lounge became a vibrant creative space, producing numerous handcrafted poppies symbolizing the bravery and sacrifice of those who served.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
— Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor Chris Bains
Maureen’s own service background adds a personal and meaningful dimension to this tribute.
