New country to join Abraham Accords normalization deals with Israel: US special envoy

New Country to Join Abraham Accords Normalization Deals with Israel

A new nation is set to officially join the normalization agreements with Israel, collectively known as the Abraham Accords, according to a statement made Thursday by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff.

Speaking at the FII Priority Summit in Miami Beach, Florida, on February 20, 2025, Witkoff confirmed that a formal announcement is expected later that evening in Washington, D.C.

“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” said Witkoff during a business forum in Miami.

While Witkoff did not reveal which country will be joining, the timing of the announcement coincides with President Trump hosting the leaders of five Central Asian nations — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. It remains uncertain whether the announcement will occur during the dinner, though the President is expected to attend any major event related to it.

The Abraham Accords are a series of landmark normalization deals between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries, originally signed during Trump’s first presidential term.
