The White House is expected to reveal later on Thursday that another nation will establish diplomaticrelations with Israel under the Abraham Accords, according to U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
"I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords," said Witkoff at the America Business Forum in Miami.
The Abraham Accords, initiated during President Trump's first term, led several Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel in 2020. These agreements significantly reshaped Middle Eastern diplomacy and altered long-standing regional dynamics.
However, critics argue that the accords further isolated the Palestinians and weakened their negotiating position. Many Palestinians view the normalization as a betrayal by Arab states that once pledged to support their independence and press Israel to withdraw from territories occupied after 1948.
The White House plans to announce a new nation joining the Abraham Accords, expanding Israel’s diplomatic ties while intensifying debates over the Palestinian issue.
