Elder Gérald Caussé Called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and formerly the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The ordination took place on Thursday and was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks, together with members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve.

The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the Church’s second-highest governing body. Its members serve as special witnesses of Jesus Christ and help oversee the worldwide administration of the faith.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “I know He is our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”

Born in Bordeaux, France, in 1963, Gérald Caussé moved to Paris when he was nineteen. He and his wife, Valérie Babin Caussé, married in the Bern Switzerland Temple in 1986. They are second-generation members of the Church and parents of five children.
