Background of Gérald Caussé

Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past decade. In this role, he oversaw humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and membership records management.

His previous service includes roles as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and as a General Authority Seventy between 2008 and 2012.

Significance of His Appointment

Caussé is the fourth member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to be born outside the United States. He joins Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Czech Republic), Ulisses Soares (Brazil), and Patrick Kearon (England).
