Prince Harry has rejected suggestions that his recent announcement about a visit to Canada was an attempt to overshadow his brother, Prince William, who is currently in Brazil for a five-day Earthshot Prize tour.
The timing of the announcements led some royal commentators to label the overlap as “predictable,” yet Harry’s representatives dismissed any hint of sibling rivalry, clarifying that it was purely coincidental.
“He is not afforded the same level of security and protection as other working members of the Royal Family,” his spokesman said. “This means the timeframe for releasing event details is much more limited than it is for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales.”
Prince William arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative he founded. Meanwhile, Harry’s team in California confirmed his upcoming trip to Canada ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Prince Harry’s team insists his Canada trip timing was logistical, not a strategic move against Prince William’s environmental tour in Brazil.
