Nearly 50 children have been hospitalised in Budapest, mainly from nurseries and schools in the 13th district, due to suspected mass food poisoning. The Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute confirmed the admissions of children experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration, with several requiring intravenous treatment.
All affected children are now in stable condition, and medical care continues without pause. By Thursday afternoon and evening, multiple parents reported their children fell ill after consuming nursery or school lunches.
According to Telex, one of the affected places could be the Futár Street nursery in Budapest’s 13th district, although children from other districts have shown similar symptoms and were also hospitalised.
“Our doctors and nurses are doing everything to ensure the children recover as quickly as possible.”
Judit, a parent of one affected child, shared that her son started vomiting during the night but was treated at home by replenishing fluids, avoiding hospitalisation. However, several classmates were admitted to Heim Pál hospital.
Medical experts emphasize that dehydration can be particularly dangerous for young children, underlining the importance of close monitoring and timely care.
The Heim Pál hospital maintains control over the situation, assuring parents that all efforts are focused on the children's swift recovery.
