Cochrane may become the new location for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary triathlon, pending approval from the town council. The event’s organizers, Platinum Racing Events, proposed the move after Harmony Park became unavailable due to construction.
The triathlon is planned as a two-day event, set for July 25–26, 2026, with setup beginning on July 24. The Historic Cochrane Ranche has been suggested as the headquarters for the competition.
Now in its 17th year, the Ironman 70.3 Calgary is expected to attract approximately 1,100 athletes from as many as 26 countries, in addition to more than 500 spectators and 300 volunteers. Around 40 percent of athletes are anticipated to travel over 300 kilometres to compete.
“Last year’s event attracted athletes from 16 countries,” organizers noted.
The event also offers a relay format for teams of two or three participants.
Family and community activities will include a Kids Fun Run, vendor booths, and athlete package pickup on July 24–25. The main triathlon takes place on July 26.
