Calgary Man Charged in Cochrane RCMP Drug Investigation

A Calgary man, Randall Arsenault, 58, faces charges following a Cochrane RCMP investigation linked to a suspected overdose death earlier this month in the Mînî Thnî area of the Stoney Nakoda Nations.

Charges and Arrest Details

Arsenault has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was arrested in Calgary on October 29 after coordinated efforts by the Cochrane RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service’s Gang Suppression Team.

Seizure and Investigation Background

During the arrest, police seized approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine. The investigation started in early October when Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in Mînî Thnî. The CRU then launched an inquiry to find the possible source of the drugs involved, which led to the Calgary suspect.

"The CRU launched an investigation to identify the potential source of the drugs involved, which eventually led to the Calgary suspect."

Randall Arsenault's arrest is a result of targeted law enforcement efforts addressing drug trafficking linked to fatal overdoses in the region.
