Chicago Weather Update: Rain and Strong Cold Front Arriving

Chicago experienced another beautiful fall day with temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. This was 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the November 4 average high of 54 degrees.

Forecast Overview by Fox 32 Chief Meteorologist Emily Wahls

Tuesday Night

Expect mostly clear, mild, and breezy conditions. Southwest winds will intensify to 10-20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. Low temperatures will remain in the lower 50s.

Wednesday

Partly cloudy skies with gusty winds from the west-northwest reaching 30-35 mph. Highs will be in the upper 50s.

Thursday and Friday

More clouds will move in Thursday. Late Thursday night into Friday, rain showers are expected. Thursday’s temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50s. Friday will begin rainy but will gradually dry out, with highs warming to the low to mid 60s.

Weekend Outlook: Significant Cooling

A strong cold front will cause a notable temperature drop this weekend:

“We’re in for a big drop this weekend,” said Emily Wahls, Fox 32 Chief Meteorologist.

Residents should prepare for unsettled weather late this week and the cooler conditions that follow.

Summary: Chicago’s pleasant fall weather will give way to rain by late week and a strong cold front will bring much colder temperatures and possible snow mix by the weekend.
