As the Trump Administration signals potential cuts to SNAP benefits that millions of Americans rely on, the team behind “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has initiated a food drive to assist the Los Angeles Food Bank and the St. Joseph Center.
The Los Angeles Food Bank’s core mission is to
“mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community.”Meanwhile, the St. Joseph Center works to
“help working-poor families and people experiencing homelessness achieve stability and self-sufficiency.”
With the ongoing government shutdown reaching 36 days and setting a record, uncertainty continues over whether the 42 million Americans dependent on food stamps will continue receiving support.
In response, the show posted the following message on Instagram:
“Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families. To support our community members in need, we’re starting a donation center in our Hollywood backlot to benefit the @LAFoodBank & @StJosephCtr. If you are in LA, please come by to donate food and if you are not, please consider supporting your local food banks.”
