Michael Bublé introduced the first-ever Mic Drop as the coaches continued to reduce their teams during the Knockout Rounds on Season 28 of The Voice. This episode aired on Monday, November 3.
The coaches—Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé—faced tough decisions, eliminating one artist after each head-to-head performance. With no Saves or Steals available this round, their choices were final. Each coach had one Mic Drop to use, allowing them to put one artist forward to compete for a chance to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Viewers will later vote for their favorite Mic Drop nomination.
Team Snoop’s Toni Lorene and Natalia Albertini, whom Snoop had previously saved in the Battle Rounds, performed first. Natalia sang Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish,” while Toni performed “Lady Marmalade.”
“Natalia, your performance was spectacular, you’re gorgeous, I love your outfit. I guess if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with Natalia.” – Reba McEntire
“The stuff you can do with your voice … there’s something special about you.” – Niall Horan on Toni Lorene
Horan called Toni a “machine,” and both he and Bublé said they were leaning toward choosing Toni for the Mic Drop. Snoop expressed pride, saying, “I am a proud uncle.”
The Knockout Rounds have trimmed the teams considerably as the competition heads toward the Playoffs. The coaches’ strategic use of the Mic Drop adds a new dynamic to the process, engaging viewers who will have a say in which artists advance from this special selection.
Stay tuned for more performances and updates as Season 28 of The Voice progresses.
