Chicago weather: About that upcoming threat of snow...

Chicago Weather: Upcoming Snow Threat

Mild and breezy conditions will persist through Friday before a weekend storm cools the region. Mike Caplan of FOX 32 provides the latest weather outlook.

Current Week Weather

November in Chicago remains mild for the rest of the week. Today will feature mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 60s. Winds will be lighter than yesterday but will increase tonight and tomorrow.

Tonight’s low temperatures will stay in the 50s, close to the normal high for this time of year. Tomorrow is expected to be the third consecutive day with highs above 60, combining clouds and sun, with gusty winds reaching up to 30 mph.

Storm Arrival and Weekend Outlook

A new storm system approaches Thursday, but the day will remain dry with mid to upper 50s temperatures. Showers and possible embedded thunderheads will move through Thursday night into Friday morning.

After Friday morning’s showers, the day will turn breezy and mild, with highs again in the lower 60s.

Weekend Changes

The weekend storm system is likely to arrive Saturday afternoon, bringing showers and highs near the lower 50s. Sunday will see a significant cold front moving in, ending precipitation by Sunday morning and clearing most of the area before the Bears game.

"There is much ballyhoo already about potential snow arriving Sunday or Monday and here’s what I will say about that: The US model has scaled back its ridiculous snowfall prediction from yesterday."

Author’s summary: Mild November weather continues through the week, with a weekend storm bringing rain and colder air, though significant snow seems less likely than initially forecast.
