3 November 2025 – As the world faces worsening crises, representatives of governments, civil society, and international organizations gathered in Doha to push for real progress in social development and in tackling today’s critical challenges — from rising hunger and poverty to inequality and climate-related instability.
The discussions took place at the Doha Solutions Forum for Social Development and during the inaugural leaders’ meeting of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, organized alongside the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Opening the Solutions Forum, President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock highlighted that the meeting represented a conscious step away from abstract debate toward implementing proven solutions.
“Too often we face situations where we have no clear solution, no answer to the suffering we see, and it is heartbreaking,” she said.
“Or we have the solution but are either unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done, which is frustrating.”
“Today is different: we are here to avoid falling into those traps, to learn from each other, to benefit from good ideas, to join forces, and to live up to our common principles.”
At the Doha forum, world leaders and partners called for turning commitments into action to fight hunger, poverty, and inequality while learning from shared experience.
