England manager Thomas Tuchel has named his squad for the final round of qualifiers before next year's World Cup, giving Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott his first senior national team call-up.
The 22-year-old from Guernsey has shown impressive form for both club and country, having played a key role in the England Under-21 team that won the European Championship earlier this year.
While Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Manchester City's Phil Foden return to the squad, there is no place for Everton forward Jack Grealish or Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
"Alex deserves to be with us. I first saw him closely in the Euros with the under-21s, where he was excellent together with Elliot Anderson in central midfield and played a huge part in the title win.
Since then, he has really stepped up and is a regular starter for Bournemouth, who are overperforming constantly in the league.
He has come a long way and has performed his way into this nomination. He will get a number eight role and hopefully, he can prove us right and show us his talent and personality."
"I just wanted to say thank you. Obviously a very proud moment for me. I can't wait and I want to say thank you to all of you for making it happen."
Scott’s reaction, shared in a video by AFC Bournemouth, received warm applause from his club teammates as he celebrated the milestone achievement.
Alex Scott earns his first senior England call-up after a standout year with Bournemouth and the U21 Euros victory, as Thomas Tuchel’s squad sees notable inclusions and omissions.
