Scotiabank Commits J$165 Million to Hurricane Relief
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Scotiabank has pledged a total of approximately J$165 million to aid recovery efforts following the severe impact of Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica.
Financial Contributions
- The bank announced a donation of CAD$400,000 (around J$48 million) to help fund relief and rebuilding initiatives through trusted organisations assisting affected families and communities.
- The Scotiabank Foundation will contribute an additional J$100 million to support the island’s recovery and strengthen economic resilience.
- Scotia Group staff members are preparing care packages worth nearly J$12 million for impacted areas, and the bank has pledged to match employee donations up to CAD$50,000 (J$6 million).
