New Boten-Mohan Shuttle Enhances Connectivity and Regional Integration

On 3 November, Laos and China officially launched a new cross-border shuttle service connecting Boten in Laos and Mohan in China. This event was marked by a ceremony attended by officials from both nations.

The shuttle service represents the first high-frequency international passenger route between the two countries, aiming to boost connectivity and facilitate tourism, trade, and business travel.

Statements from Lao Officials

“The launch of this service is a significant milestone for Laos-China transport cooperation. It provides our citizens with convenient, same-day access to China and strengthens people-to-people ties,” said Amphaivanh Keopradith, Lao Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation.

She emphasized that the shuttle not only serves travelers but also promotes cross-border trade and tourism, contributing to regional economic integration.

Chinese Perspective on the Shuttle Service

Chinese officials highlighted the shuttle’s role in enhancing bilateral connectivity. The 16-kilometre route enables passengers to complete their journey in just 50 minutes while customs procedures are fully coordinated.

These features are designed to eliminate travel barriers that existed before.
