On Sunday, Taylor Swift fans gathered at a museum in Wiesbaden, Germany, celebrating her new hit "The Fate of Ophelia." They sang and danced around a painting believed to have inspired the music video for the song.
The painting, by Friedrich Heyser, depicts Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare's Hamlet, dressed in white and floating in a river surrounded by flowers just before her death.
In the music video for "The Fate of Ophelia," from Swift's album The Life of a Showgirl, the artist appears lying in a white dress resembling the painting before it comes alive and she starts singing.
Since the single's release last month, the museum has seen a surge of visitors hoping to see the artwork. About 200 fans attended the sold-out event.
"It's incredible that this picture, which inspired Taylor Swift, is hanging here in Wiesbaden," said Corinna Greiner, a 47-year-old office worker attending with her daughter. "When I found out, I was simply overwhelmed."
The event began with a lecture by a museum expert about the painting.
