The federal government of Pakistan has officially set November 15, 2025, as the start date for sugarcane crushing at all mills nationwide. The decision aims to safeguard farmers and streamline industry operations.
The Sugar Advisory Board made the decision during a meeting chaired by Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research. The session brought together representatives from sugar mill owners, agricultural authorities from all provinces, and other government departments.
“Any sugar mill that does not begin operations on this date will face serious consequences from the government,” said Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain.
He emphasized that the uniform start date resulted from extensive consultations with provincial governments and industry stakeholders. According to him, this policy will help prevent unnecessary delays and guarantee timely payments to sugarcane growers.
The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between farmers and mill owners. Officials reviewed strategies to ensure a smooth crushing season and to address potential challenges before the new cycle begins.
The unified crushing date aims to enhance coordination, protect farmers’ incomes, and ensure timely operations across Pakistan’s sugar industry.
