Sarah Paulson is close to finalizing a deal to join the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix anthology series Monster, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. This season will spotlight notorious figures, with Paulson set to portray serial killer Aileen Wuornos.
Unlike previous seasons, which centered more directly on one killer, Season 4 will primarily revolve around Lizzie Borden and the infamous axe murders of her father and stepmother. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.
“Season 4 will examine Borden’s impact on the perception of and connection to other female killers, much like how Season 3 explored the impact of Ed Gein’s crimes on popular culture.”
Wuornos was convicted for the murders of seven men in Florida and was executed in 2002. Her life and crimes have been widely documented, inspiring several films and books. Notably, Charlize Theron won an Academy Award for Best Actress portraying Wuornos in the 2003 film Monster.
