Ken Jennings, the popular “Jeopardy!” host and former University of Washington (UW) student, recently engaged a large crowd while promoting his latest book of puzzles. The show attracts over 5 million viewers nightly, largely due to Jennings' charm, intelligence, and strong Pacific Northwest roots.
Born in Edmonds, Washington, Jennings spent his early years in South Korea and Singapore before working as a computer programmer. Over 20 years ago, he became a contestant on “Jeopardy!” and gained widespread acclaim by winning 74 consecutive games, becoming the highest-earning American game show contestant.
“His success and friendly demeanor drew a lot of media attention and increased viewership.”
Following the passing of Alex Trebek in 2020, Jennings was named the show’s new host, continuing his involvement with the program.
Jennings, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attended UW for a few years before going on a church mission in Spain. He later transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU), where he completed his degree.
Alongside his work in computer science, Jennings has established himself as an author. Most recently, he visited Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park to promote his new puzzle compilation, The Complete Kennections: 5,000 Questions in 1,000 Puzzles, his first new trivia book in over a decade.
“Ken Jennings signed copies of his new book at Third Place Books in August.”
This event marked a return to his home area and continued his connection with fans and the trivia community.
