Hayley Williams Shares Cryptic New Single "Showbiz"

Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams released the 20th and final single from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The track, titled "Showbiz," features enigmatic lyrics that hint at tensions in the spotlight.

On November 7th, Williams officially unveiled "Showbiz," completing the album's unique rollout. Prior to this, 17 tracks were released individually on a free website, gradually leading to the full project.

Although many fans speculated that the album signals Paramore's breakup, Williams reassured that the band is simply "on a break." In "Showbiz," she sings:

“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”

The meaning of what might be "ending" remains unclear. However, in the 19th single, "Good Ol’ Days," Williams refers to herself as "Miss Paramore," implying that the band she formed at age 15 still has a future.

Williams also recently revealed feeling unfairly "blamed for all the shit" that caused Paramore’s hiatuses. Additionally, some new lyrics allude to her recent breakup with Paramore’s guitarist.

Author's Summary

Hayley Williams concludes her solo album with "Showbiz," delivering cryptic lyrics that explore fame's pressures while reaffirming Paramore's ongoing hiatus rather than a breakup.
