Actor Jude Law and his producing partner Ben Jackson have built Riff Raff Entertainment into a serious creative hub for writer-led projects. The duo, who first met in a pub in Primrose Hill, London in 2000, officially launched the company in 2017.
Since its founding, Riff Raff has evolved from a boutique production outfit into a growing force in film and television. The company produced Harry Wootliff’s True Things in 2021 and secured investment from Calculus Capital in 2022.
Before the US writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023, Riff Raff completed work on Justin Kurzel’s The Order and later filmed the Netflix series Black Rabbit once production resumed.
The company enjoys strong support through a first-look deal with Anton for film projects and Studio TF1 for television.
“It’s win-win for us,” says Jackson of the deal with the interconnected companies, noting that Studio TF1 also partners with Anton. “We can take a project to them and they can put it with the team that likes the project.”
Riff Raff’s current slate includes Sharon Horgan’s first feature screenplay and a 1960s-set drama written by Challengers writer Justin Kuritzkes.
“We’re hoping to expand through the involvement and tastes of the people leading the development team,” says Law. “Nurturing other people’s ideas and passions is key to our long-term survival.”
With a varied lineup of projects and plans to open a Los Angeles office, Riff Raff Entertainment aims to strengthen its position as a champion of smart, writer-focused storytelling.
