Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla announced with deep sorrow the passing of their infant daughter, Sterling. The couple shared the news on Friday through a heartfelt Instagram post.
"Our little angel, we love you forever and you're with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her."
Vesia expressed gratitude to the Dodgers organization for their understanding and support, emphasizing the comfort their baseball family and fans provided during this tragedy.
"Thank you to the Dodgers for their support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. He also extended thanks to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and all the medical staff who cared for Kayla and Sterling, praising their kindness and professionalism.
Alongside the post, Vesia shared a black-and-white photograph of their daughter’s tiny hand resting on top of their own. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. Vesia had been away from the team since October 23, when the Dodgers stated he and his wife were facing a deeply personal matter.
