Wendy's has announced plans to shut down about 300 stores across the United States in the near future.
According to Investing.com, the fast-food chain intends to close more than 350 locations nationwide. These new closures are separate from the 150 stores Wendy's planned to close by late 2024.
Interim CEO Ken Cook confirmed these plans during a quarterly earnings call on November 7. He emphasized the goal of preserving some locations while closing those that underperform.
"When we look at the system today, we have some restaurants that do not elevate the brand and are a drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective," Cook said. "The goal is to address and fix those restaurants."
The closures will begin later this year, although specific store locations were not disclosed.
There are currently 145 Wendy's restaurants in New Jersey, with many located in South Jersey. It remains unclear if any of these New Jersey locations will be affected by the upcoming closures.
Customers can use Wendy's restaurant locator on the official website to find the nearest location.
The information was provided by Williams, a Philadelphia-based journalist specializing in trending topics across the Mid-Atlantic region.
"Wendy's, one of the ten most popular fast-food chains in New Jersey, is set to close hundreds of stores in the coming months."
