The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 833,000 Peloton Bike+ machines. This action follows several reports indicating that some seat posts broke during use, resulting in injuries.
“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s SVP of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety, in a statement to TechCrunch. “We are taking this opportunity to make replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike+ users and we encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned seat post as soon as possible.”
This is not the first recall issued by Peloton. In 2023, the company recalled approximately 2.2 million exercise bikes amid safety concerns and injury reports.
Author’s summary: Peloton faces a major safety recall impacting over 800,000 units due to seat post failures, marking another obstacle in its ongoing recovery efforts.
