Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling announced the passing of Brian Mackney, a respected alumnus and legend in Toronto's wrestling scene.
Brian Mackney, known as "Silent," was a celebrated figure in Maple Leaf Wrestling during the 1970s and 1980s. He earned the admiration of Toronto fans and gained international recognition, competing in Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling and All-Japan Pro Wrestling.
He also appeared in various NWA territories, including Mid-Atlantic, and continued wrestling in Toronto for Vince McMahon after WWF took over the city.
Remarkably, Mackney achieved all this while being deaf, proving that his hearing impairment never held him back.
"Brian Mackney accomplished all of this as a deaf person, showing that his hearing impairment would not slow him down – he rose above it all and accomplished what many do not."
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling was honored to have "Silent" Brian attend their event in May at the former Maple Leaf Gardens. They expressed pride in his enduring legacy.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the Silent Warrior during this time.”
Brian Mackney's career broke barriers as a deaf wrestler who became a beloved figure in Toronto and beyond, leaving a lasting legacy in professional wrestling.
