Paul Rodgers, the 75-year-old lead singer of Bad Company, announced via Instagram that he will not attend the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, November 9. He made the decision to "prioritize [his] health" despite his desire to perform for fans.
“My hope was to be at the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health. I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. Thanks for understanding.”
Rodgers, who also played with the bands Free and The Firm, shared that longtime bandmate Simon Kirke and other outstanding musicians will perform in his place, ensuring the event will still be memorable. Rodgers and Kirke had originally planned to reunite as the only two living members from the band's original lineup.
Although Rodgers did not disclose the exact nature of his current health condition, he revealed during a 2023 interview with CBS Mornings that he had suffered 13 strokes over several years. Eleven were minor, but two were severe enough to leave him temporarily unable to speak.
“I couldn’t do anything to be honest,” Rodgers said about the aftermath of his major strokes.
Paul Rodgers prioritizes his health over performing at the Hall of Fame, with Simon Kirke stepping in to represent Bad Company at the event.
