Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers has withdrawn from this Saturday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles, where the band is set to be inducted.
Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke will attend the event to accept the award and perform on behalf of the band.
"My hope was to be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritise my health," said Paul Rodgers. "I have no problem singing, it's the stress of everything else. Simon, along with some outstanding musicians, will be stepping in for me - guaranteed to rock."
"We're going to play, and whatever Paul chooses is fine by me! Just to play with him again is going to be a real thrill for me. I missed playing with the band. I miss playing particularly with Paul. He's such a wonderful singer," said Kirke last month.
Rodgers has suffered two major strokes and 11 minor strokes over the past decade. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he expressed cautious optimism about the ceremony.
"I may well perform at the ceremony, but I’m a little bit nervous. If we’ve got to make a speech, I’ll be quite honest. I’m not used to really making speeches of any nature, but I’ll be ok."
Despite health challenges, Rodgers is positive about accepting the honor though unable to perform.
Due to health concerns, Paul Rodgers will not perform at the Hall of Fame ceremony, with Simon Kirke stepping in, reflecting the band's enduring bond and commitment.
