Mike Smith, known for his role in the mockumentary comedy Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Canada. The series originally premiered in 2001 on Showcase and later became available on Netflix in 2014.
Court documents filed in Nova Scotia provincial court reveal that Smith was charged on October 2 for an alleged assault that occurred on December 30, 2017, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This information was reported by Variety, citing the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
"We recognise how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case."
Trailer Park Boys Inc. acknowledged the allegation and confirmed that Mike Smith has stepped down from his position as managing director. Gary Howsam has taken over the managing director responsibilities.
Trailer Park Boys stars Mike Smith alongside John Paul Tremblay and Robb Wells. The show has produced 116 episodes, along with several films and spin-offs.
