A Louisiana-based football influencer has publicly denied rumors of an affair with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier after a “fake news” article went viral on Facebook claiming they were seen entering a hotel room together.
Peighton Tubre, 26, spoke directly to her more than 200,000 Instagram followers in a video posted on Wednesday. She said:
“I’d like to address some of the fake news that has been circulating about me on the internet. Recently, there was an article posted on Facebook saying that I was having an affair with Garrett Nussmeier and that we were seen entering a hotel room together the night before one of his games.”
When Tubre first saw the post, she didn’t give it much attention as it was untrue and had only “30 likes.” She hoped it would fade away without much notice:
“I was hoping it was going to go away and no one would see it. Spoiler alert, everyone saw it. People are blowing up my phone, people are reaching out to my family members, which is really weird.”
Instead of subsiding, the rumors intensified. Tubre revealed that someone sent her another article claiming Garret sent her inappropriate photos, which she denied posting:
“So today, somebody sends me another article that they posted saying that Garret sent me unsolicited photos that made me uncomfortable, and I posted the screenshots on social media, which, if you follow me, you know I didn’t post anything like that. It is just fake, it is all fake.”
Peighton Tubre firmly rejects all allegations linking her to Garrett Nussmeier, exposing these claims as completely fabricated by viral fake news.
