Scoring in your NHL debut is a remarkable achievement, and Elias Pettersson accomplished just that last night. The former Växjö Lakers forward started for the Vancouver Canucks in their opening game against the Calgary Flames and scored at 13:48 into his first NHL match. He also assisted on the Canucks’ second goal, contributing to a 5-2 victory for his team.
Pettersson’s impressive start was expected by those who followed his career in Europe. Last year, he won the SHL title with the Växjö Lakers and earned several awards in Sweden.
