Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an all-electric powertrain for the first time. Alongside the new electric version, the trusted 2.8-litre diesel engine continues to be available, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The latest Hilux also features a complete redesign inside and out, offering more advanced technology than before.
The new Hilux aligns its design with the latest Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. At the front, it showcases sleek LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights and a bold, closed-off grille emblazoned with the prominent ‘TOYOTA’ lettering at the center. The bumper enhances the rugged look with a muscular profile, silver accents, and LED fog lamps integrated on both sides.
From the side, the Hilux retains its characteristic silhouette featuring a dual-cab body style and flatbed, complemented by aerodynamically designed alloy wheels. The all-electric model includes a charging flap on the front fender.
Rear styling highlights include vertically stacked C-shaped LED taillights, an all-black bumper, and ‘TOYOTA’ badging on the flatbed gate. The high-stop brake lights are placed above the flatbed handle for added visibility.
Toyota states that the hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux “is scheduled to arrive in 2028.”
This combination of power options aims to cater to diverse customer preferences while pushing toward electrification.
The all-new ninth-generation Toyota Hilux brings a bold design makeover and multiple powertrain choices, including an unprecedented all-electric version and a forthcoming hydrogen fuel-cell model, marking a significant step toward sustainable pickups.
