It was a special homecoming in Houston for J.J. Watt. Before commentating on Sunday’s matchup between his former Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the CBS Sports analyst shared a heartfelt sideline moment with his 3-year-old son, Koa, at NRG Stadium — the same field where Watt starred for a decade.
“It was the best,” Watt said. “This was such a cool morning for me to have my wife, Kealia, and my son, Koa, out on the field. Obviously, so many memories in this building, so many great throwbacks, and to see him [Koa] run into that end zone, the same one I’ve run into before, just unbelievable feeling this morning.”
A first-round pick from Wisconsin, Watt was selected by Houston 11th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. During his ten seasons with the Texans, he became a dominant defensive force, earning three Defensive Player of the Year awards and five First-team All-Pro honors.
After requesting his release following the 2020 season, Watt joined the Arizona Cardinals on a two-year contract. His time there was marked by challenges, including a shoulder injury in 2021 requiring surgery. In October 2022, he revealed that he had suffered from atrial fibrillation and “had [his] heart shocked back into rhythm.”
J.J. Watt returned to NRG Stadium, sharing a touching moment with his son where his football journey began, reflecting on both his legacy and his family’s joy.
