Matt Rife's holiday special, Matt Rife: Unwrapped — A Christmas Crowd Work Special, will launch globally on Netflix this December. The special, filmed in Phoenix, Arizona, explores "gifts, traditions and who’s made it on the naughty or nice list this year," according to Netflix.
Directed by Erik Griffin, a close friend and fellow comedian, the special was executive produced by Rife and Christina Shams. It was produced by Rife’s company, Carpe Noctem, alongside Avesta Entertainment and Above Average.
This marks Matt Rife’s third consecutive special with Netflix. His previous two specials, Matt Rife: Natural Selection and Matt Rife: Lucid — A Crowd Work Special, both ranked in the global Top 10. The 2023 special reached number one in the US, Canada, and South Africa, becoming the most watched Netflix special during the latter half of that year.
“With Unwrapped, Rife ‘explores gifts, traditions and who’s made it on the naughty or nice list this year,’ per the streamer.”
Following his initial success, Rife signed a multi-special deal with Netflix, including a development deal for a new series where he will write and star. His second special, Lucid, debuted in August 2024 and also hit the global Top 10 for two weeks.
Rife is currently on a worldwide tour titled Matt Rife: Stay Golden, with performances scheduled this weekend in Michigan.
Author's summary: Matt Rife continues to expand his global reach with a new Christmas-themed special on Netflix, marking his third consecutive hit and ongoing worldwide tour success.
