A 19-year-old man was caught with a small fold-up knife outside the Metallica concert on Saturday but avoided any punishment. The knife was discovered during a “proactive edged weapons scanning” operation conducted by police outside Optus Stadium before the event.

“The item was seized and destroyed,” a police spokeswoman said.

Authorities reported being occupied with supporting venue operations and managing various incidents during the event, which drew around 60,000 attendees.
