Magic Mountain Ski Area is investing in snowmaking upgrades, anticipating an earlier start to the skiing and boarding season.
According to Geoff Hatheway, president of Magic Mountain, many ski areas in New England have outdated snowmaking pipes. The upgrades at Magic Mountain include replacing a key section of the lower mountain loop with over 1,200 feet of new pipe.
"We are replacing a key section of our lower mountain loop that had become 'Swiss cheese,' causing a lot of inefficiencies and blow outs,"
The new pipe will be installed from the midpoint of Black Line to the top of Show Off, improving the lower snowmaking loop's production for years to come.
