The first live fire of a ground-launched AGM-179 Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) took place at Yuma Proving Ground in August 2025.
Lockheed Martin performed the live fire using a US Army-provided munition, with the company's internal investment funding. The test was deemed "successful" by Casey Walsh, multidomain missile systems director at Lockheed Martin.
The ground-launched version of JAGM, called JAGM Quad Launcher (JQL), was fired as a milestone in preparing the technology for a future vertical launch configuration.
Although there is no existing requirement for the vertical launcher with the US Army, army officials were present at the launch, which took place on 28 August 2025.
