Shadrack Sibiya raises conflict of interest concerns over police corruption probe committee members

Conflict of Interest Concerns Raised in Police Corruption Probe

Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest involving two members of parliament.

Sibiya argued that these two members should recuse themselves from the committee investigating police corruption, as they are complainants in criminal cases against him.

I'm advised that I will proceed, but I must indicate that I do so under protest because I will be participating in a process that could be tainted.

Despite his objections, the committee decided that Sibiya should continue with his testimony, with his conflict complaint to be discussed at a later meeting.

The committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the matter further, following consultation with the speaker of parliament.
