Tasmania’s Chief Thoroughbred Steward Sacked
Tasracing has terminated the employment of Tasmania’s chief thoroughbred steward due to "conduct-related matters" following an investigation.
The steward was stood down on September 21, just days after starting in the role on September 15.
- The organisation has not disclosed what the steward did wrong.
- Racing Integrity Commissioner Sean Carroll confirmed he had been advised of the dismissal.
The conduct was "disappointing" but the commissioner was "satisfied with the manner in which Tasracing has managed the situation since becoming aware of the allegations"
Carroll used the incident to reinforce his expectations for the industry.
