Federal Decision on Tasmania Wind Project Delayed

The St Patricks Plains wind project in Tasmania has faced its fifth delay in receiving a decision under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.

The project, initially designed for 67 turbines, has been scaled back to 47 turbines with a capacity of 291 megawatts (MW). The decision deadline has been extended to November 28.

A government spokesperson stated that the delays were requested by the project's developer, Ark Energy, which acquired the project in 2022 from Epuron.

Ark Energy has been contacted for comment.
