Columbia is facing significant road closures following a train derailment, and one school evacuated their campus, but thankfully, no injuries are reported.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirmed that the train cars were empty. Columbia Academy's campus was evacuated as a precaution. Buses left at 1:00 p.m., and all after-school events are canceled.
The Columbia Police Department has closed several roads, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation reports emergency utility work on State Route 243 Northbound in Maury County, blocking all northbound lanes and closing the southbound lanes.
