A New Costs War Begins

Paying parties have wasted no time in citing Mazur in their points of dispute.

According to Andrew Hogan, a well-known costs barrister, "The costs war has begun" in relation to the fallout from the ruling in Mazur v Charles Russell Speechlys LLP [2025] EWHC 2341 (KB).

Paying parties are arguing for bills of costs to be struck out or for the costs claimed to be disallowed because the litigation was conducted 'illegally' by unqualified fee-earners.
