READY YOUR EYEBALLS: Eureka to Revive its Utility Box Art Program

Eureka to Revive its Utility Box Art Program

The city of Eureka is set to revive its utility box art program, which was first introduced over seven years ago as part of the Strategic Arts Plan.

A local artist, Blake Reagan, recently painted a utility box at the corner of Fourth and F streets, marking a potential resurgence of the program.

The original program had brought colorful makeovers to several utility boxes, and also included street art festivals, artistic benches, and the certification of downtown Eureka as a California Cultural District.

The bright hues from that inaugural utility box art season have dimmed in the intervening years

Eureka is now looking to revive the program and bring back the vibrant colors to its utility boxes.
